Martin Zaimov has professional experience in banking, investment advisory and commodities trade. He holds engineering and economics (Birkbeck and LSE) degrees.
Martin has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Société Générale / Expressbank OTP Group in Bulgaria for more than 10 years. He has also been the Executive Director of the Regional Urban Development Fund AD, a subsidiary of the bank investing in city rehabilitation projects.”
From 1993 until 1997 he worked for the international commodities firm Louis Dreyfus in France, Russia and Bulgaria. From 2005 until 2007 he was part of real estate investment firm Abacus & Partners managing a 30 mil euro portfolio in Sofia.
His public service has been between 1997 and 2003 and between 2007 and 2011. At first, as a deputy governor of the Bulgarian central bank, he was responsible for monetary policy and for introducing and managing the Bulgarian currency board. Later, he worked for four years as Sofia municipal councilor.
He is a member of the Boards of the Centre for Advanced Study Sofia, the Institute for Market Economics and the Bulgarian Electric Vehicles Association.
